Teen CERT Program (Violence Prevention - Salinas)

Hi Wendy, Candy & Wayne,

Let me say that I'm sincerely excited about this Teen CERT program. As for the violence prevention piece, I speak from experience working with Teens in South Central Los Angeles, East LA, and teens from the Irish projects of Boston, Massachusetts, http://www.youthalive.org/tnt/

Teens on Target Workshops runs in the following manner:

1. What are the root causes of violence?
2. How do we prevent gun violence, gang violence, and family and dating violence? How do these interrelate?
3. What are the connections between alcohol, drugs and violence?

I realize our emphasis will be on Disaster Preparation, and love that our CERT classes develop leaderships skills, problem solving, and team building skills --exactly what the kids in Salinas our missing/lack.
